Course Description
From Farmville to Street Fighter, games have never been a more vital and universal cultural form. It's also never been easier to make games of your own! In this class we will learn the basics of Game Maker, a popular, powerful and versatile development environment for Windows & OS X.

We'll cover Game Maker's organizing principles, talk about basic scripting and programming concepts, practice debugging and playtesting, and begin to develop the creative and technical skills needed to make a small game from start to finish. Each class consists of a discussion and a hands-on workshop in which students will work on a project of their choice.

Whether you're interested in a professional career, creative expression, or simply learning what goes on under the hood of digital games, this course will help you get started making games, with a focus on learning by doing!

Programming or scripting experience is helpful but not required. However, computer literacy is expected.
